How to Apply for The Rice Investment Rice University Scholarship

If you want to apply for The Rice Investment Rice University Scholarship program, follow these steps:

Step 1: Financial Aid Application

To be eligible for need-based assistance, you must complete the standard financial aid applications for the 2024–2025 academic year. Here’s what you need to do:

  • FAFSA for 2024–2025
    • School Code: 003604
    • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and provide accurate financial information.
  • IRS Tax Return Transcript or IRS Data Retrieval Tool
    • Taxpayers (parents or students) must submit an IRS Tax Return Transcript or use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to input their 2021 tax information.
  • CSS Profile for 2024–2025
    • School Code: 6609
    • Complete the College Rice University Scholarship Service (CSS) Profile, including up-to-date asset information, income, and tax data until 2022.
    • Both the custodial and non-custodial parents (if applicable) must complete their own CSS Profiles.

Step 2: Tax Documentation

You’ll need to provide tax documentation to support your financial information. Here’s what’s required:

  • Parent and Student Tax Documentation via IDOC Student Dashboard
    • Submit your 2022 tax return, along with all W-2s, 1099s, and related schedules.
    • If your family has an S-corporation or partnership, you may need to request a copy of the business return.
    • If you (the student) did not file a tax return, submit the Non-Tax Filer Statement from the College Board.
    • Parents who didn’t file a tax return should use Form 4506-T to request an IRS Non-Filer Letter issued after October 1, 2023, and also complete the College Board’s Parent Non-Tax Filer Statement.
  • 2022 Tax Documents for Non-Custodial Parents (if applicable)
    • If non-custodial parents are part of your financial situation, submit their 2022 tax return, W-2s, 1099s, and related schedules.
    • If applicable, request a copy of the business return for non-custodial parents with an S-corporation or partnership.
