Scholarship Categories and Benefits

Ferrum College provides a range of non-repayable scholarships to support students in their educational pursuits. These scholarships are often awarded based on merit.

One of the scholarships available is the Band Scholarship, which is for undergraduate students who are part of the Ferrum College Band.

To be eligible, you need to audition with the band leader and must be pursuing your degree full-time.

This scholarship is worth $1,000 and can be renewed for up to seven semesters as long as you continue to be a full-time student and remain a member of the band. It is awarded for the academic year.

Beckham Presidential Scholarship

The Beckham Presidential Scholarship is a prestigious award presented to incoming undergraduate students who demonstrate outstanding leadership abilities and academic excellence.

This scholarship is highly competitive, and the selection process considers the applicant’s academic track record, performance during the competition, and scholarship application.

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must first be accepted into Ferrum College.

The scholarship covers full tuition and the average cost of room and board.

Any additional state or federal awards received by the student will be subtracted from the scholarship amount to cover tuition, lodging, and board expenses.

If external financial support exceeds the cost of attendance, the scholarship amount will be adjusted accordingly.

Please note that this scholarship is not available to students who receive Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits or tuition remission.

The Beckham Presidential Scholarship can be renewed for an additional seven semesters, provided that the recipient maintains full-time enrollment, pursues a degree, and maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Each student is eligible for only one scholarship competition.

Endowed Scholarship

Ferrum College offers a variety of endowed scholarships to students who demonstrate financial need. These scholarships are used in place of Ferrum Grants during the academic year. Please note that applications for endowed scholarships are no longer being accepted.

Honors Travel Scholarship

Honors students at Ferrum College have the opportunity to receive a scholarship that allows them to travel overseas for E-Term or another approved course.

Recipients of this scholarship are selected by the Boone Honors Program faculty.

The award amounts are not refundable and may vary.

To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled full-time in the Boone Honors program and actively working towards a degree.

International Scholarship

Ferrum College awards scholarships to prospective international students based on their academic achievements.

The renewal of this scholarship is contingent upon the student’s continued full-time enrollment each year.

Presidential Honors Scholar/Boone Honors Scholar Scholarship

Students who have been admitted to Ferrum College can receive merit-based awards under the Presidential Honors Scholar or Boone Honors Scholar programs.

To be considered for this scholarship, recipients must have a verified academic record.

High school GPA, as well as SAT and/or ACT scores, will be taken into account when determining the scholarship amount.

If the recipient remains enrolled in the Boone Honors Program, pursues a degree full-time, and maintains the required GPA, the scholarship may be renewed for an additional seven semesters.

Theatre Arts Scholarship

Students participating in the Ferrum College Theater Arts program have the opportunity to receive scholarships.

To qualify, students must audition for the theater faculty and must be pursuing their degrees full-time.

If the student continues to pursue their degree full-time, this award may be extended for an additional seven semesters.

Transfer Scholarship

Newly admitted transfer students to Ferrum College are eligible for a $2,000 scholarship.

The extension of this award for an additional seven semesters is possible if the student maintains full-time enrollment while pursuing their degree.
