FG Opens Application for N10m Agric Project

LAGOS, NIGERIA – November 27, 2023 – In a bid to stimulate the fourth industrial revolution via technology, the Nigerian government has opened an application for its Agriculture Demonstration Project, offering a grant of N10 million to Nigerian tech enthusiasts.

The project, announced by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, aims to identify and mainstream market-ready innovations that leverage Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies like UAV, IoT, AI, and Blockchain to enhance productivity and sustainability in the agricultural sector.

“Our intent is to encourage and inspire the use of technology, especially 4IR technologies, to optimize different sectors of our economy,” Tijani said.

Applications for the project are open now and will run until Thursday, December 7, 2023. Interested applicants can apply at https://4irta.nitda.gov.ng.

The Agriculture Demonstration Project comes on the heels of the launch of the first cohort of the government’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme. The 3MTT programme aims to generate a pipeline of technical talent to create 2 million digital jobs by 2025.

The selected applicants for the first phase of the 3MTT programme will learn courses in software development, UI/UX design, data analysis & visualization, quality assurance, product management, data science, animation, AI/machine learning, cybersecurity, game development, and cloud computing.

The 3MTT programme is critical to the Renewed Hope agenda to build Nigeria’s technical talent. The first phase of the programme, executed in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), will involve multiple stakeholders, including fellows, training providers, partners, and placement organizations.
