She shared that the interviews for the 2023/2024 academic session scholarship awards were already underway across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

Eligibility Criteria for Candidates

“The first and foremost requirement is Nigerian nationality. For master’s programmes, the applicant must be a graduate from an oil and gas-related field like engineering, geology, computer science, environmental sciences, or management.

A minimum of a second-class upper in any of these fields is mandatory for qualification,” she explained.

Integrity of Selection and Vigilance Against Fraud

Ensuring the integrity of the selection process is a top priority for the PTDF.

The agency uses specialized equipment to identify counterfeit certificates.

They also engage external experts to scrutinize the shortlisted applicants to maintain fairness and qualification in the interview process.

Mrs Kehinde-Agboola stated that they had confronted instances where individuals with a third-class degree from a Nigerian university presented a bogus first-class certificate from a foreign institution.

In response, the PTDF deployed detection equipment to uncover such frauds.

Efficient Handling of Massive Applications

The selection process has been designed to accommodate the large number of applicants efficiently, all while satisfying federal character stipulations.

Successful candidates will receive their scholarships after the completion of the interviews.
