Who Can Apply for the PhD Scholarship:

• You must be from one of the listed developing countries.
• You need to create a research plan with both a Partner University and Ghent University.
• Women are especially invited to apply.
• If you are an exchange student, you can’t apply.
• If your research is about topics that help with development, this is good for your application.
• You have to be okay with traveling as part of the PhD program.
• You must be ready to start your research between October 10, 2024, and February 28, 2025.
• You can research any topic, but those about development are better.
• You must want to get a PhD degree from Ghent University.
• This scholarship is for students who are just starting their PhD and have at least 36 months left to work on their PhD.

Here’s how you apply for Doctoral Scholarship

• Click ‘Apply Now‘ on their website.
• You’ll do the application online.
• You have to fill out the form in English and email it to BOFapplication@ugent.be.

Your supervisor also has to send two documents: one about your ability as a future researcher and another about the ethics and safety of your research.

Make sure you send in your application before the scholarship deadline.

The scholarship deadline is February 20, 2024, and they’ll start telling people if they got the scholarship on May 15, 2024.
